kitty!

So, there's this new cat in my nieghborhood. I don't know whose it is, but I've seen it everywhere. It's really young and playful. It loves to chase things and climb trees and scare the crap out of the squirrels.

Anyways, I officially "met" it last week at a friends house nearby. We were out taking a walk and it was outside so we stopped to pet it and wonder whose it was. After we pet it, it followed us on our walk the whole way. It was so cute! BUT THEN! When we had to split and I went one way, my fiends the other, it was totally like one of those cute moments where it stopped in the middle of the quiet road between us and looked back and forth really sadly. Like, no kidding. It sat down and meowed at us so pitifully. It was adorable. But it followed me home! I carried her home and talked to her in my arms like a baby. It was adorable. And then when I put her down and walked inside, she meowed at the door. Way to make me sad, kitty. Gosh.

Anywho, days later. I'm sitting and watching TV with the window open cuz it's hot, right? I hear a squeak from the window and there's the kitty peeking in at me!! I was like, "Awah! It found me!" So I went outside and played with her for a while. Did I say I love kitties?

Then, again, days later, landing on today, I'm sitting here on the computer and there's this door behind me. The screen is open again to let the breeze in the house. And again, I hear a meow, and it's kitty again!! So, she's found me twice now, in totally different parts of my house. I love this cat! So I roll back in my chair to the door and see this!

Adorable, no?

Oh! She's out here now!

Kitteh loves to play.

I told you she climbs trees!

So that's my kitty story. Cute, no? Hehehe. I want to know if she has a name, but she has no collar, and no one knows who the owner is. I might have to name her something on my own. Any ideas? Feel free to suggest!

Misc.

I'm at a busy time in life right now, so my one post a week goal is failing utterly. I hope to make up for it, but right now I must concentrate on school and graduating.

One project to possibly be coming in the spotlight soon is the bench I've painted for a community project. It will be going up for auction at the end of summer, so I've gotta get some pictures of it before it's gone.

A second project just completed today was a group project at an after-school art program was a twelve-piece chess set and character trio themed from the Alice in Wonderland sequel, Through the Looking Glass. I designed and decorated many of the pieces but I focused mainly on the character trio which included Alice, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen of Hearts as a playing card. The twelve chess set pieces included a red an black version of Queens, Kings, Bishops, Knights, Rooks, and Pawns. They were all done in papier mache, painted and then bedazzled in glitter. Haha. Quite the feat.

Well, look forward to that later. I just really needed an update for now.

lol =/= lol

I believe that internet chatspeak has progressed to the point where "lol" no longer means "laughing out loud." I rearly use chatspeak anymore in chatrooms or IM, but the few things I do use include:

lol (laughing out loud)
wb (welcome back, for when someone is disconnected but soon returns)
brb (be right back, when you're away from your desk but with come back soon)
nvm (nevermind)
ttyl (talk to you later, used when leaving)
rofl (rolling on floor laughing, when something is *really* funny)
omg (oh my god)
wtf (what the fuck)
ftw (for the win!)

Well, in any case, I think that lol has been reduced to a chuckle. That's about the most I'll get out of it. It's also become a filler when there is nothing to say in response but you want to let the person know you laughed/chuckled/smiled/at least thought it was funny.

That's about all I have to say. Just thought I'd mark this occasion in interwebz history.

chicago

Yay Chicago Art Institute! I took a day trip into Chicago today to go to the Institute with a community college group. My parents went for the tour, but I had already seen it in the fall, so I just wandered around since I had already memorized the layout of the building. It's funny though, because I can memorize names and faces, song tunes (NOT lyrics), and building/street layouts, as long as I've been through them before... but anything else I try memorizing just toooottaly fails. Hahaha! It took me two years just to get my times tables right. Ugh. I don't do math.

Anywho, here's some pictures of things I liked:

A Claude Monet painting I liked. It had really nice colors. I've discovered lately that I really enjoy Impressionism. It's probably something to do with my love of the nineteenth century.

Speaking of nineteenth century, this is a Thorne Room Miniature. It's basically a scale model of a period 1840-70 Living Room I believe. It's about twelve inches high, ceiling to floor there... amazing. Perfect imagination fodder for writing! I just had to have a picture.

Downtown Chicago! This is right outside of the front of the Institute. I just love the view. And, since it was raining and sort of foggy, it was really neat how that far skyscraper kind of just disappears in the clouds.

The North Lion! RAWR! Ya just gotta take a picture of the lion. Hehehe.

skeleton writing

I'm working on a new story. It started out as an idea for a short story but I'm only a little ways in, and it's already closing in on 6,000 words, meaning it will be closer to a novella when finished. If I finish it. I have a trend in my writing that the longer the piece is, the less likely I am to finish it. I hope I can finish this one because I am very interested in seeing what happens to my characters.

Well, right now I am basically writing the skeleton of my story. For me, the ideas of what's happening next are coming too quickly for me to spend forever on details and description without loosing the plot to come, so I skimp and write ahead with plot. Then later as I re-edit, I will add more description, and basically flesh it out. Here's to hoping I stick with it long enough! Haha.
