drawing

Drawing: one of my artistic strengths. I love to draw from life. I can make wonderful copies of life, turning it to graphite on my paper. I can draw people, buildings, and still lives, just as long as they're sitting in front of me.

The only thing I'm not so good at is drawing from my imagination. That's really difficult for me. It's like some people are really good at making up their own anime characters. I have tried that, but they end up looking really lame. About the only thing I've discovered the ability to do from imagination are landscapes. Draw the ground, some grasses, trees, dirt and roots if you're doing the under ground. Add in some nifty clouds and some shading and "ta-da!" Magical landscape.

Well, about one of my most succesful drawings is this one I like to call "Pachyderm." The bike I had set up on a work table. I sat on the hard a** concrete floor to get the right perspective. The elephant I had a couple photo references. And the mouse is *gasp* completely from imagination! He's kind of cartooney, but I think he's cute. ^_^

Hey Yoyo!

This is robin, you commented on my blog recently. (thanks by the way, glad you liked it) I just checked out your blog, keep going girl, you're doing great. I do love the "Pachyderm" I think your imagination is in fine shape! My theory has always been you gotta know the rules before you can effectively brake 'em, so I'm with you on drawing from life as much as possible. Have fun.

Hey Yoyo,
My name is Derek Johnson.
A few guys and I are opening a bike shop here in Alabama. We are just now getting around to making a website and blog. We also would like to use this drawing for spoke cards and other stuff to promote our shop. We are poor so we couldn't pay you money but we will give you credit on anything we use it for. Pretty Please.
